The Oncology and Medical Day Unit provides same day treatments and care for cancer patients and their families, as well as treatments for medical patients such as medical infusions and procedures.
Located on the ground floor, main ward block, the Oncology and Medical Day Unit provides same day treatments and care for cancer patients and their families, as well as some medical infusions and procedures. The unit consists of treatment chairs, clinical research chairs and chairs for our Symptom Urgent Review Clinic (SURC). Also located in the unit is a Gastroenterology Investigation Room that provides services such as fibroscan and capsule endoscopy.
What to expect from the service?
Northern Health Oncology and Medical Day Unit supports cancer patients, carers and families going through cancer treatments in the outpatient setting. In our Day Unit, we give patients cancer medications, intravenous and oral. We can also give treatments at home through our NOAH@Home service. Through our SURC service we help patients manage the symptoms that can happen with cancer drug.
Northern Health Oncology and Medical Day Unit supports medical patients, carers and families going through some medical treatments such as immunotherapies and infusions in the day unit. The service works with Medical Specialist Nurses and specialist doctors to help patients manage the symptoms that can happen with drug treatments.
We also provide you with information written and videos, so that you understand what to expect when you start your treatment with us. We work with your General Practitioner to make sure that you can get help from a doctor you knows you well.
To make sure you can get help after hours we work with the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) and the Northern Health emergency Department.
