The Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep outpatient service at Northern Hospital offers expert specialist care for sleep and breathing disorders in children and adolescents.
We are the first non-tertiary paediatric service in Victoria to offer specialist reported overnight oximetry through hospital in the home.
We provide specialised care for children and adolescents with sleep and breathing disorders. Our specialists offer evidence-based, patient-centred management of conditions such as asthma, chronic cough, unexplained breathlessness, excessive daytime sleepiness and obstructive sleep apnoea.
Our service specialises in ancillary sleep diagnostics and provide an overnight oximetry service, often used as a diagnostic tool for obstructive sleep apnoea, in titrating supplemental oxygen and as a surrogate to a full sleep study in children.
We aim to provide seamless, lifelong respiratory care in collaboration with the adult respiratory & sleep service at Northern Health.
What to expect from the service?
Families can expect comprehensive, compassionate and evidence-based outpatient care for their children through the Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Service at Northern Hospital. Our expert team diagnoses and manages sleep and breathing disorders such as asthma, chronic cough, and sleep apnoea. We collaborate efficiently with our extended care networks across the Northern precinct to ensure coordinated, high-quality care. We also actively collaborate with our tertiary specialist colleagues at the Royal Children’s Hospital & Monash Children’s Hospital.
