What to expect from the service?
When you are a cancer (oncology) patient at Northern Health and you need cancer treatment we may be able to offer you treatment at home. This support may be offered to any patient who lives within the Northern catchment up to 60km north of Epping, including Broadford and Seymour. We will need to assess your home situation, the treatment you need, your health and if you need hospital support services as an inpatient or a day patient. We will discuss with you if treatment at home is right for you. If it is the right treatment, and you are happy for us to provide this service, you will be visited and treated by specialist nurses from the Oncology and Medical Day Unit. These nurses have high levels of experience in caring for patients with cancer and with supporting their families. The treatment you get is the same as in hospital. We can keep providing this service for your whole treatment or stop at anytime depending on whether you, your carer or family want to continue or your health changes, so you need hospital support.
