Northern Health provides Gestational Diabetes Services for pregnant women who develop diabetes during pregnancy. Gestational Diabetes clinics are available at The Northern Hospital – Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital and Craigieburn Centre, meaning that you can continue your pregnancy and diabetes care at the one site.

Your first visit with our diabetes team will take at least one hour.
You may participate in a group session with up to six other women or individual sessions if you require an interpreter. These sessions are led by a dietitian and a diabetes educator. Your partner or other support person is welcome to attend.
You will learn about gestational diabetes, healthy eating and exercise in pregnancy, and how to test your blood sugar level. You will be provided with a glucose meter and some sample testing strips, and shown how to use them.
Our diabetes team will work closely with the antenatal team to ensure the best maternal outcome for you.
What to expect from the service?
Women who develop diabetes in pregnancy can expect to see a Diabetes Nurse Educator and a Dietitian to learn about how to manage your diabetes in pregnancy. You may attend a group session, or an individual session if you require an interpreter.
