RMIT University

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University focusses on teaching and research that is underpinned by an evidence-based approach and a commitment to translating fundamental science into improved health outcomes. In May 2024, Northern Health and RMIT University established a Clinical Translational Research Partnership to accelerate new knowledge into clinical practice. This partnership will initially focus on spectroscopy, coagulation, pathology, and cancer biology research with the aim of driving innovation, improving patient outcomes, and positioning both institutions as leaders in healthcare research.

Latrobe University

The La Trobe Northern Clinical School, situated within the Northern Centre for Health Education and Research (NCHER), is a key teaching and research centre for La Trobe Allied Health and Nursing and Midwifery disciplines, as part of the La Trobe Academic and Research Network and in partnership with Northern Health. La Trobe researchers in Allied Health, Nursing, and Public Health work together with clinicians and researchers from Northern Health on a wide range of research to benefit Northern Health and its community.

In January 2025, Northern Health entered into a formalised research partnership with La Trobe University, expanding on the long-standing collaborative relationship between the two organisations. This research partnership is dedicated towards advancing equity, diversity and inclusion in health research.

University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne Northern Clinical School is located at Northern Health. Through this important teaching partnership, medical students are engaged in research activities across Northern Health, making key contributions to new knowledge, in particular in the areas of health service quality improvement. Such research has the capacity to translate to improvements in care for the Northern Health community.
