What to expect from the service?
At Northern Health, our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is dedicated to providing safe, kind, and compassionate care when it matters most. Whether you or your loved one is with us following surgery, a medical emergency, or a critical illness, you can expect expert treatment in a calm, supportive environment that places people at the heart of everything we do.
Our ICU provides 24-hour specialised care for critically ill patients and offers around-the-clock access for family and friends to visit or call, recognising the vital role that loved ones play in the healing and recovery process.
Our 18-bed ICU is staffed by a highly skilled team of doctors, critical care nurses, and allied health professionals who work together to provide round-the-clock monitoring and advanced medical support. We understand that this can be an overwhelming time, so our team is here to communicate clearly, listen to your concerns, and involve you in decisions about care wherever possible.
Beyond the walls of the ICU, our dedicated Liaison Nurses and Medical Emergency Team (MET) help ensure that patients continue to receive safe, coordinated care throughout their hospital journey. Guided by our values of Safe, Kind, and Together, we strive to provide every patient and family with care that is not only clinically excellent but also compassionate, respectful, and reassuring.
