Nutrition and Dietetics


Dietitians at Northern Health work across paediatrics, acute care, aged care, rehabilitation, residential care, outpatients and community (in home) services. They support consumers across all stages of life from our neonatal unit though to residential aged and palliative care services.

Inpatients
Epping: Adult critical care, medical & surgical specialties, neonatal unit & paediatrics, Hospital in the Home
Bundoora: Geriatric Evaluation & Management Broadmeadows: Rehabilitation, Aged Medical, GEM, Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit
Kilmore: GEM, Medical
Broadmeadows: Mental Health Community Care Unit (CCU)

Outpatients
Antenatal, Dialysis, Gastroenterology, Home Enteral Nutrition (adults & paediatric), Endocrinology, Preadmission Clinic, Musculoskeletal Wellness program, Women’s Health

Community
NDIS, CHSP, HACC PYP, Community Therapy Service (including wound service), HARP (Diabetes), Mental Health Adult Community Teams (Merri-bek and Hume)

Residential Aged Care
Bundoora, Broadmeadows and Kilmore sites

Food Services
Working with food services to ensure quality, nutritious meals to meet nutritional, religious and cultural requirements

Teaching, Training and Research
Collaboration with NH Research and university partners


What to expect from the service?

Dietitians at Northern Health are eligible for membership of Dietitians Australia and participate in continuous professional development to maintain Accredited Practising Dietitian status.

Dietitians work with medical, nursing and allied health staff as part of the multidisciplinary care team. They provide nutrition assessment and evidence-based individualised intervention that supports treatment, recovery and rehabilitation.

Dietitians work with clients to develop practical, achievable dietary solutions tailored to individual eating habits and lifestyles to assist in preventing, managing, and treating a range of medical conditions. They work across inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
